Cellular System Engineer - Modem Performance (m/f/d)

About the Job
Bridgecom Semiconductors is a growing tech startup specializing in 5G solutions, with locations in Munich and Linz. We are actively looking for a motivated system engineer with focus on modem performance in our team in Munich. This role requires a balance of in-depth modem understanding and hands-on lab- and field-testing. You'll work in a cross-functional manner with the Bridgecom RF, FW, and algo development teams across our sites.
Your Responsibilities
As our Cellular Modem Performance System Engineer, you’ll be hands-on from day one—owning modem performance during product ramp and pushing issues to closure across hardware, firmware, and software. Your responsibilities include:

  • Drive product ramp for 5G mobile devices with a focus on system performance and stability
  • Define and execute system-level performance tests for key cellular KPIs (throughput, call drop, power consumption)
  • Work hands-on with cellular test equipment (e.g. test gNBs)
  • Debug conformance issues (GCF, network-vendor IOTs)
  • Analyze trace logs to isolate root causes
  • Implement and validate fixes in firmware and software, generate new builds, and lead re-test cycles
  • Take end-to-end ownership of performance issues from problem discovery to production readiness
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across multiple sites
Your Profile
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Communications, Computer Engineering, or Microelectronics
  • 5+ years of experience in the cellular/wireless industry
  • Proven experience supporting product ramp-ups in the cellular chipset industry, including testing, debugging, and patching
  • Strong expertise in 5G NR, 3GPP standards, and physical-layer algorithms
  • Hands-on experience with cellular test equipment and trace-log analysis
  • Deep system-level understanding spanning baseband, protocol stack, and RF units
  • Solid programming skills in Python, C/C++, and/or MATLAB; comfortable with Git-based workflows
  • Understanding of hardware/firmware architectures
  • Experience with cellular system validation, KPI testing, and performance benchmarking
  • Background in link-level simulations is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to debug complex system issues
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable owning problems end-to-end
  • Clear communicator and collaborative team player in global, cross-site environments
  • Fluent in technical English (written and spoken)
